Have you ever tried a new “amazing” skincare product that promised to do great things to your skin only to have it do nothing or make your skin worse?
Don’t worry, you’re not alone.
At some point we have all experienced that.
And one of the key reasons why it might feel like you’re not seeing results or getting reactions from some products is simply because you either weren’t applying it well or the product wasn’t a good fit for your unique skin type.
That’s why today, I’m excited to help you discover the type of skin you have and tell you about some of the best products you can use to care for it.
So Let's Begin:
There are 5 main skin types: normal, oily, dry, Sensitive and combination skin.
In most cases, your skin type is usually determined by genetics, although there are daily habits like Drinking water, alcohol, diet, smoking or environmental factors like Sun exposure, hormones, weather that can worsen/better a skin condition over time.
However, every skin has a specific set of characteristics and requires special attention whether the goal is to treat acne, breakouts or achieve smooth, clear, younger looking skin.
So Here We Go:
Normal skin doesn’t look so dry or so oily. It’s just there somewhere in between.
Usually, normal skin types have small pore sizes that are not so obvious, hence you’ll see few or no breakouts at all. But then even though they barely crack or flake, they could show few fine lines and wrinkles if not properly taken care of.
That’s why having a good anti-aging skincare routine specially designed for your skin is a must.
I’d recommend using a Retinol cream every other night to diminish lines, wrinkles and premature aging to make your skin visibly smoother and younger looking.
Another thing you should also know about Normal skins is that they can change over time. For example, younger people are more likely than older people to have a normal skin type. Similarly as a person with normal skin ages, their skin can become dryer and more vulnerable to wrinkles and lines.
Hence, it’s very important not to exfoliate so often or use products that makes you feel too greasy or excessively dry.
However, While normal skin types generally require less maintenance than other skin types, it’s important to maintain a balanced healthy looking skin by prepping your skin before applying Retinol at night with a gentle cleanser to remove dirts and makeup, Then try to hydrate in the morning with a moisturizer that contains glycerin, hyaluronic acid, parrafinum, Vitamin E and Collagen.
Lastly, Always protect with broad spectrum sunscreen during the day.
FDA Certified Mineral sunscreen SPF 50 Specially blended with zinc oxide and Vitamin C to nourish and brighten your skin quickly and efficiently as it protects skin from over exposure to the sun, sunburn and premature aging. Perfect for all skin types and colors.

If you notice you experience breakouts after applying moisturizer or your makeup slides off too easily or your pores are so visible then yes you may have an oily skin.
Oily skins usually produce too much oil which can lead to clogged pores, frequent breakouts, acne, blemishes and blackheads. So if you have a skin like this you need to look out for products that help balance excess oil and won’t clog pores.
Consider exfoliating 1-2 times a week with a Face and Body Scrub Preferably made with coffee to help remove dead skin cells trapped in the pores from too much oil buildup and washing your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser that won’t irritate your skin or increase oil production.
While you may be tempted to reach for harsher products. it’s important to use products that contain gentle exfoliators like the Coffee Arabica Seed Powder, Sea Salt, Sugarcane Extract and Cocoa Seed Powder found in Neutriherbs Coffee Body Scrub.
Coffee and Sea Salt are Natural mild exfoliants that effectively exfoliates your skin while helping promoting healthier looking skin. The Scrub can can also assist with cell renewal and fight against acne, fine lines to restore a youthful glow.

Why You Should Use Moisturizers
Those with oily skin may assume they don’t need moisturizer, but completely leaving moisturizer out of your routine can actually make the skin even oilier.
Using products that only dries out your face can signal the oil glands underneath the skin to start producing and pumping out more sebum, resulting in oilier skin. Instead, find a moisturizer that’s lightweight and oil-free to keep your skin soft and properly hydrated.
You could skip moisturizers in the morning and just hydrate at night (but never skip sunscreen in the morning).
Use sunscreens that doesn’t feel sticky and heavy. In fact, just avoid using “thick” anything (Heavy creams and moisturizers) or use them sparingly.
Serums and masks are your best friend.
And one of the best serums to hydrate oily skin I’ve seen is Hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid helps the skin retain water without leaving a greasy like film on your face which makes it a perfect buddy for oily skin types.
HYALURONIC ACID SERUM| N8,500
Neutriherbs Hyaluronic acid serum gives the skin moisture barrier the ability to draw and hold water so as to keep skin firm and moisturized all day. It's also infused with Vitamin C to improve appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and revitalizes skin to look and feel softer, smoother and radiantly hydrated at all times.
The reason I like vitamin c cleanser for oily skin is because it contains "camella sinensis" which helps target bacteria that causes acne, stimulate collagen production and improve skin overall appearance.
Do Oily Skins Age Easily?
Those with oily skin are fortunate when it comes to signs of aging. Oily skin types tend to have thicker skin thanks to genetic factors , and this thickness means fewer wrinkles (as the skin is less prone to dehydration) meaning you seem to age more slowly.
All skin gets dryer as it ages.
About 40% of the complaint we get at Neutriherbs are problems related to dry skin.
The number one sign that you have dry skin is if it appears dull and lifeless or it’s flaky with scaly patches that makes it look rough or feels tight.
This is because a skin that is dry is more likely to be covered in a layer of dead skin cells.
The key to caring for dry skin is keeping the skin properly hydrated. The more moisture the skin holds, the healthier, younger and more radiant the skin would look.
Without enough moisture, the outer layer of the skin would be weakened, resulting in dry areas and ultimately speeding up the Aging process.
Hence, if you have a dry skin look for products that hydrate, nurture and moisturize and are free from alcohol, fragrances, dyes or harmful chemicals.
Sun exposure is one of the leading environmental factors that causes dry skin, that’s why using a Sunscreen is a huge must.
More also, Because of their natural thirst for hydration, dry skin can benefit more from creams than lotions, as they contain more oil, making it thicker and more moisturizing.
So you want to use a cream moisturizer morning and night alongside a sunscreen.
Keep use of cleansers and Exfoliators to the barest minimum.

If your skin doesn’t react to it, go ahead and apply it to your face.
Use mild stuffs. Mild cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Don’t apply too many products to your face.
Combination skin can be a little more challenging to care for since it’s made up of two skin types (dry and oily).
Skin types can change seasonally or with age. Combination could mean that you are dry in rainy season or harmattan and oily during dry season.
The easiest way to care for combination skin is to look for products formulated for all skin types.
Typically, products for all skin types help balance skin without over-drying or causing excess oil and Keeping your skin balanced is key for those with combination skin!
How To Identify Combination Skin
Oily T-zone and dry cheeks
Breakouts only on forehead, chin and nose
Combination skin tends to be oilier in the T-zone – the forehead, nose and chin and dryer at the cheeks.
Hence, if you feel like your T-zone is oilier than the rest of your face, use a product suited for oily skin on just those areas.
You need products that are strong enough to exfoliate but not so strong as to cause irritation.
it’s a good idea to use two different moisturizers in your skin care regimen. Use a heavier moisturizer on your cheek area or any skin that’s excessively dry, and use a lighter moisturizer on the oily parts of your face.
You can also alternate moisturizers and cleansers depending on how dry or oily your skin feels during different seasons or times of the month.
The vitamin c Cleanser is perfect for all skin types and great for those with combination skin that need to get it clean without irritation or dryness.
For a moisturizer, use the Oxygen Aqua Active Revitalize to restore moisture and revitalize the skin at night. It also contains a milder amount of Retinol to help reduce fine line sand wrinkles and to normalize sebum production – leaving your skin looking and feeling hydrated, soft, smooth and years younger.
Tips For Combination Skin
If you have combination skin, the pores in your T-zone are larger than the rest of your face. Harsh products may clog your pores. Using a gentle cleanser is recommended.
Exfoliate Gently And Once in A While
Exfoliating every day isn’t recommended for any skin type. It can remove necessary oils from your skin. When you exfoliate, don’t scrub your T-zone too much. Scrubbing too hard can damage your skin.
Sunscreen is a must-have skincare product. Choose an oil-free sunscreen if you have combination skin. The Neutriherbs SPF 50 is non-greasy, No fragrance sunscreen enriched with vitamin E and C to protect your face and body.
Maintain Two Separate Skin Care Routines
Products that work for dry skin may be harsh on oily skin. Follow a separate skincare regimen for your T-zone. Don’t use the same products for your T-zone and the rest of your face.
Buy Oil-Free Products
Whether it’s a sunscreen or makeup, buy oil-free products to avoid clogged pores.
